Short internships,
real research
work.

AxiomInference is a solo-run AI lab. These are one-week, remote, unpaid internships built around Project Kestrel — our from-scratch small-model research program. No installs, no access to our servers, model, or source — everything happens in a private browser portal.

Eval & Benchmark Curation Intern

Help sharpen how we test Kestrel-Nano by writing evaluation prompts and scoring rubrics for coding, tool-use, and instruction-following.

What you'll actually do

  • Write 15–25 test prompts in an assigned category (e.g. "reads a stack trace and picks the right fix").
  • Draft a short pass/fail rubric for each prompt.
  • Score a batch of real model outputs we provide against your rubric and flag disagreements.

Good fit if

You like precise writing, enjoy finding edge cases or holes in an answer, and can read a short code snippet — you don't need to write production code.

Research Communication Intern

Turn our internal Project Kestrel research notes into something a curious non-expert could actually follow, for the public site.

What you'll actually do

  • Read the research materials assigned to you in the portal (plain-English framing of the architecture and results).
  • Draft a "How Kestrel Works" explainer, plus two or three short posts.
  • Submit drafts for review — nothing goes live without our sign-off.

Good fit if

You like explaining complicated things simply, enjoy research and writing, and don't mind revising based on feedback.

Terms, plainly

What this is — and isn't.

  • This is an unpaid, educational internship. It's not a job offer, creates no employment relationship, and carries no promise of future paid work.
  • Open to applicants 16 and older (self-certified at login — no ID upload, no guardian account needed).
  • Exactly one week, and the clock only starts the moment you first log into the portal — not before.
  • Fully remote and browser-based. You will never be given access to our servers, the live model, our source repositories, or any personal device or software.
  • Work you submit may be reviewed, edited, and published or used by AxiomInference — you'll be credited if it's published.
  • Access is revocable at any time and expires automatically at the end of the week either way.
